Abstract

North American and European currents in urban design intersected rather than converged during recent events in London. The US-Europe dialogue was of interest to two visiting Australians, a Sydney practitioner and a Brisbane urban design academic, who attended the English Partnerships/Europan Lecture Towards the new urbanism and the Europan 4 UK exhibition Constructing the Town upon the Town. Their reviews, below, bring an Australian perspective to the international debate on the types of cities we are making and remaking.
