University as a global educational community: The role of an institution from an international student perspective

Educational communities have changed dramatically over the last two decades across the globe. From the educational setting formed with the traditional homogeneous student cohorts and their teachers who understand well their students' linguistic, cultural and educational character, to the classrooms where student backgrounds are not only increasingly diverse but also ever-changing, depending on individual student cohorts. The internationalization of education is developing rapidly in both countries traditionally attracting international students such as the United States, Britain or Australia and in the regions previously homogeneous in regards to the student cohorts including Asia or Eastern and Central Europe. Therefore, the matters of international student mobility affect institutions on a global scale, and the understanding of the processes involved in building a successful global educational community is paramount for the universities globally.
