Abstract

Key points:
•Data from 5 clinical trials support the clinical efficacy of transdiagnostic cognitive behavioral therapy (tCBT), including equivalent efficacy to diagnosis-specific CBT.
•Data from one large pragmatic randomized controlled trial established treatment effectiveness of tCBT in real-world conditions.
•Multiple secondary analyses show positive effects of tCBT on comorbid mental health diagnoses.
•Two health economic studies, from the societal and health care systems perspectives respectively, show high probability of cost-effectiveness of tCBT.
•Data from multiple secondary analyses consistently demonstrated strong treatment acceptability among patients.
