Abstract

This papers considers the current law regarding the right of young people to access medical treatment, in the specific context of a young person who has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. The patient may wish for treatment for this situation, including puberty blockers, hormonal treatment and/or surgery. Courts have divided on the issue of whether a young person can consent to such treatment and/or the question of parental consent.
