The Need for Accident Reporting Systems: Legal Versus Company Needs

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterResearchpeer-review

Abstract

Accident reporting systems stem from two sources. There is normally a legal requirement based on the employees’ compensation system which forces employers to report on all accidents. However, there is also a company need to monitor accidents. This company need is based on the reporting of accidents for insurance premium calculation purposes and also as part of the safety management system to reduce the occurrence of accidents by analysing and reporting on accident causation and highlighting areas where action is needed.
