Abstract

Antipyrine clearance and 14C aminopyrine breath analysis were measured before and during treatment with cimetidine. 1000 mg per day and ranitidine, 200 mg per day. Cimetidine, but not ranitidine, inhibited the oxidative metabolism of these two model drugs. These results suggest that metabolic inhibitory actions on the liver may be separated from H2-antagonist effects.
