Research output: Book/ReportBookProfessionalpeer-review

Abstract

A magnificent collection of photographs tracing the building of this World's Best Stadium from the ground up.
Alan Patching was the Project Director overseeing construction of the Stadium, and the diary he began in the earliest days of construction in 1996 offers an insight into the everyday trials and tribulations, frustrations and successes and colourful characters involved in delivery of Australia's highest profile building project of recent years. years.
Rich in anecdotes, blending fact, humour and emotion Patching's diaries recall the detail of some of the most complex construction activity undertaken in Australia, alongside fascinating tales of 6000 workers from 60 different ethnic backgrounds working together.
Candid and 'unstaged' photographs taken by team members throughout the building process enable the reader to experience from their armchairs a taste of what it might have been like to be involved in the design and construction.
