Abstract

In this issue we peek into the journey of someone whose works are relevant to multiple times and spaces. Māori ethnomusicologist and sound artist Rob Thorne (Ngāti Tumutumu) is one who ‘knowingly walk[s] backwards into the future’. He does this through explorations of sound with traditional Māori taonga puoroFootnote1 (precious musical instruments and sound makers) (Thorne Citation2016).
