Abstract
Artificial intelligence is reshaping transportation globally, with China leading in robotaxi deployment due to its vast market, centralized governance, and strategic innovation policies. Companies like Baidu’s Apollo Go operate hundreds of autonomous vehicles across major cities, supported by favorable regulations that shift liability from manufacturers to operators. In contrast, the U.S. faces slower adoption due to fragmented regulations and public skepticism, exemplified by recent protests and litigation. China’s integration of AI with digital infrastructure and its dominance in electric vehicle production position it as a global leader. The geopolitical implications are significant, prompting calls for competitive U.S. policy responses.
