Abstract

This subject of government funded national broadcasting is considered to be primarily
a Commonwealth Government matter. However, the role and adequacy of these
broadcasts have an impact on the people of South Australia and this provides the
impetus of this Select Committee. It is the intention of the Select Committee to make
recommendations as they relate to the broadcasters’ effect on the economy and
community of South Australia. These recommendations will contribute to the ongoing
and national debate on the role of government funded national broadcasting.
