Abstract

The transition from athletic sporting career to post-injury life presents significant psychological and emotional challenges for individuals, that can result in trauma. As athletes face not only the end of their careers but also the loss of identity for the individual. While existing literature recognises the psychological impact of career-ending injuries, it primarily highlights physical rehabilitation and return to sport, leaving a notable gap in trauma-informed care (TIC) tailored to athletes' trauma recovery needs.
