Abstract
The information society gives rise to many new legal considerations and a legal approach to the digitization of society is needed. The book gives a legal informatics perspective on the meeting between new technology and law. A central theme throughout the book is the automation of legal proceedings and the central role played by algorithms. After many years of adapting general rules on, for example, copyright and data protection to the information society, we are now seeing a tsunami of completely new EU legislation. A number of regulations and directives aim to directly regulate digital phenomena such as artificial intelligence (AI), data management, digital market gatekeepers and cyber security. In this fifth edition, important updates have been made to describe these new rules and new case law in the field.
