Abstract
At the 2022 Quad Summit in Tokyo, leaders from the United States, Japan, India, and Australia launched initiatives to counter China’s influence, including a $50 billion investment in Indo-Pacific infrastructure and a maritime initiative to combat illegal fishing. While these efforts aim to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific, the summit’s outcomes lack concrete measures and immediate impact. The ambitious plans, though promising, are insufficiently detailed and overly reliant on future cooperation, raising doubts about their effectiveness in addressing pressing regional challenges.
