To the Editor:

Type 2 diabetes is a major public health problem in Pakistan. This is especially true among the middle-aged population who are at high risk of type 2 diabetes because of overweight or obesity, lack of physical activity, and unhealthy eating habits, which make the health problem more complicated. The question with regard to self-management is how these people manage their daily lifestyle given the individual health challenges posed by type 2 diabetes. Therefore, a valid and reliable tool that assesses self-management behaviors in patients with diabetes is required. The Summary of Diabetes Care Activities measure (SDSCA) from Toobert et al is one of the most popular and frequently used tools in English-speaking countries.
