Abstract

As with all social practices mediation has a past, a present and a future and it is both responsive and adaptive over dine according to the dynamics internal to the practice and environmental pressures external to its operation. This chapter identifies some preliminary themes in relation to these factors before the text turns to more systematic description, analysis and evaluation.
