Abstract
Effective post-operative pain management begins in the pre-operative period with a pain management plan. It is aided by measuring pain regularly post-operatively (at rest and movement) using a validated tool, and adequate multimodal analgesia with appropriate monitoring of efficacy and adverse effects.
