Abstract
[Extract]
Opinion: Is self declared 'male feminism' doing us a major disservice? Are we in danger of well meaning men mansplaining feminism into little more than pop fad pronouncements, meant to make men feel better about themselves? And are they disempowering female voice and agency along the way?
Our BroadAgenda series on 'Meet the Male Feminist' has thrown a spotlight on a complex - and often confused - set of responses from both men and women. While some of you take issue with what's been said, and others applaud our male feminist positions, it's nevertheless got us all debating. And that can only be a good thing!
In this latest instalment, Professor Jonathan Crowe hurls perhaps the toughest response yet to the question not 'can' men be feminists, but 'should' they.
