Abstract

This book was designed as a resource for anyone working with older adult SPs and/or simulation related to the care of older adults. We purposefully focused on integration of evidence-informed SP methodology practices, relevant clinical evidence of aging, and evidence-based care related to the care of older adults. In this chapter we focus on challenges and opportunities including (1) changes in the epidemiology of the older adult population, (2) increased focus on interprofessional and team-based clinical practice, (3) advances in technology-enhanced educational practices, and (4) shifting societal and educational values.
