Abstract
There is growing evidentiary support and clinical recognition of the role of lifestyle interventions in addressing the substantial physical and mental health outcomes in people with mental disorders. The main challenge we now face is translating the efficacy of lifestyle interventions seen in research into the clinical mental health setting. This chapter provides an overview of the epidemiological evidence on lifestyle factors for people with mental disorders and the current evidence base for multi-modal lifestyle interventions. Additionally, we suggest practical ways to translate clinical evidence into clinical practice at the individual level and recommend changes at the system level. Finally, we propose research and translational priorities in this field.
