Abstract
This chapter considers the liability of companies, jointly with their human agents, for private law remedies; it does not consider corporate criminal responsibility that may arise alongside that of human actors. A company may be jointly liable in at least four ways:
1. via rules of vicarious liability and attribution;
2. via the process of ‘piercing the corporate veil’;
3. as an accessory to another’s primary wrong; and
4. by imposition of joint liability on directors for companies’ primary wrongs.
