Abstract
This paper examines various sources of ISIS funding as well as some of the mechanisms the global anti-ISIS coalition has deployed to counter it. While the paper analyses how ISIS exploits the situation across the Middle East and North Africa to reveal the scope of its activities, it also identifies the dichotomy between the terrorist groups’ religious foundation and its criminal activity. The paper highlights the ‘profit of the Prophet’ to help practitioners and scholars generate tactical responses and counter-narratives to enhance the efficacy of a states’ counter terrorism (CT) and counter violent extremism (CVE) strategy
