Abstract
When it comes to patient safety, the quality of care is a factor of paramount importance. High-quality care incorporates the prevention of harm as well as the need to curb errors in the pursuit of reliability. Different professions call for a different angle of safety in general; some environments focusing on preventing danger and others on achieving an appropriate level of risk. There has been a heightened awareness and understanding of iatrogenesis in the past 10 years, and so considerable efforts have been made for safer healthcare. Are patients safer now than they were 10 years ago?
