Abstract
'My future home' is a community charrette to test and experience the research & development project Housing+. Housing+ investigated detailed solutions for affordable housing in modular building technology for the metropolitan area of Perth and other climate zones in WA. The study resulted in the proposal of the H+ modular housing building system which was delivered to the community via a charrette aiming at: ... Co-creating value by engaging the community through participation and the co-design of H+ [modular housing system] housing modules individually and for multiresidential urban living; ... Social interaction; ... Self-determination; ... Networking with the neighborhood; ... Economic benefits for society, client and users; ... Ecologically conscious action; ... Collaboration with community members; ... Alternative perception of multi-unit housing; ... Engaging the future home owner as an active contributor to 'owning' space within a rational prefab framework that allows flexible interior use; ... Informing about sustainable water use and climate adaptable design considerations; ... Offering a platform for future of housing oriented constructive discussion, learning and gathering; ... Redefine housing for urban living with the community; ... Reexamine and redefine the ways in which dense housing for affordable urban living can be implemented; ... Extracting creativity of the community. This report contains the approach, design ad result of the interactive demonstration 'My future home' community charrette, held at the B-Shed/Fremantle Ports, with the City of Fremantle, Housing Authority, AUDRC, and further contributions by the Department of Water, the Water Corporation, and Landcorp in 2016.
