Abstract

The International Society for Quality in Health Care's (ISQua's) official journal International Journal for Quality in Health Care (IJQHC) presents an interesting studies selected as an editor's choice in this issue focusing on health information technology (HIT) and perceptions of teamwork in hospitals to improve health care.

Wolderslund and his colleagues [1] investigated a new technology of digital audio recording of health consultations to provide knowledge about patients’ use and evaluation of their recording method in their study. This study found that the usage of the audio recordings was positively associated with increasing patient age and first time visits to the clinic. This paper highlights the importance of technology in health care since the adoption of HIT is increasingly growing day by day around the world. It is interesting to know that HIT has potential to significantly improve quality and patient safety in health care. However, there are always some unique safety challenges with HIT as well.
