Abstract
Guidelines often recommend that clinicians advise patients on behavior change. In this commentary, the authors caution and describe ways that guideline panels may overestimate the evidence that such interventions will improve outcomes and note potential harms. The commentary also provides questions for guideline panels when they are considering recommendations on lifestyle interventions.
