Abstract
As the 2019 election campaign heats up, one common focus in the analysis, commentary, and campaigning strategies of the parties is the ‘North/South’ divide between Queensland and Victoria. The challenge for both major parties is that conservative policies (especially on environmental issues and the Adani mine) might win them key marginal seats in Queensland, but cost them seats in progressive Victoria. In reality, this is a clunky analysis for several reasons.
