Abstract
This chapter delves into the subject of eudaimonic experiences. Eudaimonic experiences focus on the quest for meaning, personal development, and the fulfillment of one’s potential, often arising from endeavors that necessitate effort, contemplation, or alignment with individual values. These experiences are distinct from hedonic experiences, which prioritize personal pleasure. Although there is an increasing interest in the realm of eudaimonic travel experiences, a lack of conceptual clarity persists regarding eudaimonic travel experiences. This chapter seeks to foster ongoing dialog about eudaimonic travel experiences by introducing a new conceptual framework known as the EAMA Model (Engagement, Affiliation, Meaning, and Achievement), which illustrates the psychological mechanisms that facilitate eudaimonic wellbeing for travelers.
