Abstract

Although 3D e-Learning applications are becoming more prolific and popular among educations creating the content is hard and requires specialised honed skills. The Advanced Learning and Immersive Virtual Environment (ALIVE) project has been working with technical novice educators over the past three years and examining the usability and other issues in assisting educators to create the 3D e-Learning content themselves. This paper presents an overview of the ALIVE project, discusses the challenges faced by small development teams working in the 3D domain and provides guidelines for the novice content developer who wants to create their own teaching and learning 3D e-Learning environment.
