This report summarizes progress to date, key objectives, activities and further tasks for the Cooler Desert Cities project, which aims to unearth design drivers that contribute to low-emission, low-energy desert comfort, laying the basis for the development of the “Cooler-Shaper Tool” (CST). This phase focused on analysis and workflow/script development to identify methods, archetypes and key inputs/outputs for multi-objective optimisation (using Wallacei). This entailed aligning codes (input/output) for case study analysis (locations per existing microclimate simulations) to match possible multiobjective algorithm configuration and enable comparison and validation of optimized results. An automated workflow script that can subsequently be applied for multiple case studies was developed base on a single case (Al Bastakiya historical neighbourhood in Dubai).
