Abstract
The sale of Surfer magazine in the US has reignited the print vs digital debate, with digital-only surf media pundits seizing the opportunity to declare the death of surf mags. I argue these are precarious times for all independent surf media, not just printed surf mags, and for the good of surfing's commercial ecosystem we should be encouraging and supportive of all demonstrably viable surf media formats.
