Abstract

Clinical trials are regulated by strict guidelines provided by various international research bodies as well as professional medical and pharmaceutical organizations, which are mainly based in developed countries. Although the role of the principal investigator (PI) remains the driving force behind each clinical trial, the research landscape has become versatile and multidisciplinary in recent years. Hence, the integration of qualified clinical pharmacists as PIs has been an increasingly recognized phenomenon in clinical trials. Moreover, pharmacists, due to their unique professional and inherent features, could optimize multidisciplinary research projects as team leaders providing leverage in modern research practices.
