Abstract
[Extract] As part of the Springer ‘Series on studies in classification, data analysis, and knowledge organization’, this book comprises 26 peer‐reviewed papers that were presented at the 10th Scientific Meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group of the Italian Statistical Society held in October 2015 at the University of Cagliari, Italy. As suggested by the title, the book focuses on various classification techniques and big data analytics tools, as well as the statistical analysis of large data sets. These techniques are widely used in many disciplines such as business, medicine and the social sciences. This book may be useful to researchers in all fields where statistical and classification techniques are applied to the analysis of big data.
