Abstract

This presentation will introduce the theme of sustainability in an environment of rapid medicines change. It will use a case study of Bruce, a real rural Australian, to discuss the realities for older people in being able to keep up with change in their use of medicines, or not. It will then present two other perspectives, that ofthe health professional / prescriber, and the family reflecting on the QUM principles. Do we have it right forthese three groups in the rural and remote context – education, safety and enough care?
