Abstract

[Extract] This Seventh Edition of this standard cost planning text is like meeting an old friend with new clothes! It looks very familiar and in fact, contains much of the same material as the previous edition. However, on closer inspection, it appears that the text has had a makeover. The modern report style with greater us e of subheadings and bullet points makes the text less formidable, with its logical structure and development more apparent. A third author (Jonathan Ferry) has joined its ranks. So, while the content of the text is familiar, with no dramatic changes, there has been a restructuring to reflect the contemporary approach and emphases in the practice of cost planning.
