Abstract

Our planet is increasingly facing troubling times with worrying trends in food (in)security, poverty, inequality and climate change making daily headlines. Companies, large and small, as well as individuals, are waking up to the call for frugal living and frugal consumption. Making an effective and fast transition from being resource intensive, polluting, and irresponsible to the opposite has become a matter of great urgency for the survival of all species. Efforts for achieving sustainable growth are seen by many as a frugal innovation (FI) revolution where the emphasis is to do better with less (Radjou & Prabhu, 2016).
