Abstract
Deliberate firesetting remains a concern for many communities. Compared to other types of criminal behavior, the psychological literature has been relatively underdeveloped. Recently, however, a number of important contributions have emerged, including a comprehensive multi-factor theory, and several empirical papers reporting findings on risk factors associated with firesetting. Programs are available addressing fire education and awareness in children, and adult firesetting treatment programs have also been developed; however, these have yet to be formally evaluated.
