Abstract
The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will be the primary determinant of the Post-COVID Indo-Pacific Era, surpassing current tensions with the People's Republic of China and speculation of a new Cold War. States must prioritize adapting their domestic economies to pursue rules-based trade and seek democratic mandates for necessary changes. Economic adaptation and democratic practices are crucial for states in the Indo-Pacific to thrive in the evolving global landscape.
