Translated title of the contribution: Impact of climate change on agricultural product price fluctuations

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationFeatured articleProfessional

Abstract

Supply and demand in agriculture will always be dependent on day-to-day weather patterns, and increasingly importantly, long-term changes in climate. This is becoming more unpredictable over time given the increasing pace of human activities. This means that agricultural markets are becoming even more erratic, and impacting world economic systems. One of the most tangible impacts of climate change on agriculture is its effect on crop yields. Rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events like droughts and floods make the decision-making process for farmers much more difficult. As such, the supply of agricultural products becomes more volatile, leading to fluctuations in prices.
