Abstract
Heavy load carriage may not only negatively impact the balance, velocity, and agility of soldiers, which might lead to the decrease of mission performance, but it may also increase the risk of injury. Physical conditioning for load carriage performance is one of the most important means for reducing the navigate effect of heavy load carriage, and decreasing the risk of injury. In this paper, we reviewed the principles governing load carriage conditioning programs in addition to the method, frequency, intensity and duration of training for load carriage as informed by literature published in English. The purpose of this paper is to provide a reference for the Chinese army to better carrying out their load carriage conditioning thereby improving combat performance and reducing risk of injury.
