Research interests

Research interests include carbohydrate chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry, and their relation to biological systems. Currently, Stephan collaborates broadly with groups both national and international, with collaborative work including groups from Deakin University, Yale University, and the Oregon Health and Science University.   

Statement for HDR students

Our laboratory works on diverse projects with national and international collaboration.  Skills involved include analytical chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, and molecular biology. Diverse applications of these skills include drug design, bioanalysis, and neurophotonics. Diseases studied include cancer, infectious diseases including viruses, and neurological diseases.
