Personal profile
Research interests
My primary research interest is sustainable construction. More specifically, I am interested in construction material waste minimisation, interactions between sustainable construction principles and construction phases, as well as construction professionals’ perceptions, attitudes, and behaviour. My research is theoretically informed by the theory of waste behaviour, and I employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
I have conducted research on building maintenance, building information modelling, intelligent buildings, professional practise and disaster risk management. For my PhD thesis, I developed a circular-economy-based construction waste minimisation framework, which provides a baseline for waste reduction in the construction industry.
The majority of my current research focuses on the application of the circular economy concept in minimising construction waste during the design, procurement and construction stages. In addition, I am working on developing a pocket guide for construction professionals to achieve zero waste on construction projects.
I am currently a co-investigator on two collaborative research grants with academics from the School of Architecture and Built Environment, University of Newcastle. I am a chartered building professional with the Australian Institute of Building.
