Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in the interaction of social justice issues and the legal system at various levels, starting with the local community. For this reason, I have a focus on both clinical legal education and international human rights law, particularly refugee rights and gender rights.  Through my research, I have explored the impact of experiential learning on students engaged in clinical legal education.

I completed a Juris Doctor degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC, and then worked for several international organizations including the World Bank and the Organization of American States. Subsequently I focused my legal career on refugees, representing asylum seekers before US Federal agencies and Federal courts as a lawyer at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, a Washington based Non-Government Organization (NGO). I have worked at Bond University for over a decade.
