Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests are inter-disciplinary. I work between the fields of feminist philosophy, religion, and literature. My book, O Mother where Art Thou: An Irigarayan Reading of the Book of Chronicles (Equinox, 2007), was the first extensive discussion in biblical studies of the work of the French philosopher Luce Irigaray. It was also the first book-length feminist engagement with Chronicles.

More recently, I have published essays that explore Irigaray's re-thinking of the Madonna, and I am currently working towards a book on this topic.

Statement for HDR students

I am most interested in supervising students who wish to research in one or more of the following areas:

  • Philosophy of religion
  • Feminist philosophy
  • Philosophy and sexuality
  • Feminist biblical studies

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my research background, I am also interested in supervising students in the more broad areas of literary studies and studies in religion.
