My research interests focus on molecular genetics, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, molecular diagnostics, microbiome science and translational health. My PhD research at Griffith University examined the potential of polyphenols as therapeutic options in type 2 diabetes, with a focus on gene-environment interactions, inflammation and cardiometabolic health.
My earlier research explored nutritional genomics, probiotics, cytokine regulation, MTHFR genotype and folate status, and chronic disease risk. More recently, my work has progressed toward sequencing-based molecular diagnostics and women’s health, particularly 16S rRNA sequencing, female reproductive tract microbiome profiling, and host–microbiome interactions.
My current research includes collaborative postgraduate projects investigating microbial landscapes in women with and without endometriosis, and mitochondrial DNA in relation to weight-loss outcomes in individuals with obesity. I contribute to study design, methodology, data interpretation, supervision and academic writing.
As an accredited Principal Supervisor, I am committed to supporting rigorous and translational research training for Honours, Master’s and PhD students. My future research direction focuses on applying molecular and sequencing-based approaches to improve understanding of women’s health, metabolic disease, microbiome-related conditions and precision health.
As an accredited Principal Supervisor, I welcome enquiries from prospective HDR students interested in molecular genetics, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, and translational health. I can offer supervision in projects focused on host–microbiome interactions, women’s and reproductive health, metabolic disease, obesity and weight-loss outcomes, gene-environment interactions, and molecular mechanisms of health and disease. My supervision approach is supportive, structured, and research-focused, with an emphasis on strong study design, molecular methodology, data interpretation, scientific writing and translational impact.
