Personal profile

Research interests

I am an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Assistant Professor in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice Program at Bond University.

I completed my PhD titled “Nutritional issues, patient outcomes and the management of nutritional risk in hospitals: Results from the Australasian Nutrition Care Day Survey 2010” at the University of Queensland in 2013. With over 3100 acute participants from 370 wards across 56 hospitals in Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian Nutrition Care Day Survey is one of the most comprehensive insight into nutritional issues in acute care hospitals in the two countries. I have presented my research at several national and international conferences, published in top quartile nutrition and dietetics journals, attracted over AUD130,000 in research funding, and done several media interviews. I was awarded the Dean’s Award for Research Higher Degree Excellence (UQ 2014), Research in Practice Award (DAA 2013), Best Abstract Award (ESPEN 2012) along with several others in recognition for my research.

I have over 10 years of work experience as a clinical dietitian in the inpatient, outpatient and private practice setting across a range of specialties and disease conditions.
