Research interests

I am passionate about the efficient delivery of health services and consequently my research spans health economics, health services and clinical domains. My main interests are the health economics of allied health interventions and musculoskeletal disorders. I have extensive experience in advanced practice and am currently serving as Chair of the AHPRA Physiotherapy Board of Australia Prescribing Working Group. 

Statement for HDR students

I have experience in quantitative research including RCT, health economics and systematic review. I am also experienced in combining clinical practice with research pursuits in health service projects.

Current health economic projects include:

  • GP orthopaedic referral variability and efficiency
  • Surgical and conservative management of wrist fractures
  • Advanced physiotherapy in a maxillofacial unit
  • Compression stockings in venous leg ulcers
  • Non-drug interventions in primary care

Current musculoskeletal projects include:

  • Altered pain mechanisms and somatosensory profiling in shoulder pain
  • The impact of patient and clinician expectations in musculoskeletal care
  • The role of the long head of biceps at the shoulder
