Personal profile
Research interests
I am a Conjoint Principal Research Fellow between Bond University and Gold Coast Health, working in the Allied Health Research team. I also work part-time as a Health Practitioner Research Fellow at Metro South Health’s Centre for Functioning and Health Research. In both these roles I apply my research skills to support close-to-practice research, and, ultimately, improvements in patient care.
My research interests include both clinical and health services research. I have a focus on meta-research (research about research), including research capability in health services, research ethics, clinician researcher careers, evidence-based practice and the role of research in healthcare organisations. I specialise in qualitative, Knowledge Translation and health service evaluation research.
My PhD and postdoctoral work was in the area of aphasia rehabilitation- i.e. language difficulties following stroke or traumatic brain injury. Since my PhD, I have applied my research skills to helping clinical teams to progress their research in a range of fields including audiology, occupational therapy, podiatry, palliative care, trauma, emergency care and paediatric critical care.
I have over 40 academic publications and have received more than $1 million in competitive funding across 16 grants. I most recently received the Most Distinguished Abstract award at the 2025 National Allied Health Conference, for my work on clinician researcher careers.
