Water based Research Unit:
Objective:
The Water Based Research Unit is focused upon investigating the health benefits and improving the sporting performance of all aquatic recreational and sporting activities.
Outline current projects underway:
- Evaluating first aid methods of controlling blood flow in beachgoers
- Health Profiling and physical assessment of recreational and competitive surfers
- Investigating Paddling Symmetry in Surfers
- Examining the effect of hydration on recreational and competitive surfers
Where possible include any positive community impacts the research group may have
Currently Collaborating with World Surf League
- Provided surf health screens for public at WSL surf events (Snapper Rocks and Bells Beach)
Collaborating with Surfing Medicine International
- Developed and hosted one day symposium: Surfer Health Symposium: Surfing for Longevity, dissecting the health of surfers.
