Description
In order to achieve the objective of creating a sustainable future, the process in the provision of dwellings for humans needs to change. The strategic nature of this planning process is supportive of facilitating change, where the implementation of sustainable development principles and technologies maybe realised. This study utilises a series of published papers that explain what is currently understood to be sustainable communities, using examples found in South East Queensland. Other investigations, such as a series of interviews with built environment industry participants was undertaken, to explore what were the perceived barriers to broad adoption of environmental sustainable development principles being applied in our urban planning mechanisms.
