Description
Bob Telfer is a life member of the Cronulla Tri Club. His success in the sport of triathlon has lead Triathlon Australia to include him in their ’Hall of Fame,’ which is an honour awarded to those whose triathlon careers are distinguished by a high level of sporting performance.
Bob’s major achievements are:
> 1998 – 8th position at the Sunrice St George Triterium
> 1992 – winner of the Age Title of the World Ironman, an annual competition held in Kona, Hawaii
> 1987 – 2nd position at the 2nd Great Lakes International Triathlon, held in Foster
> 1985 – 2nd position in the in the Benefit Planners Sydney Triathlon (half Ironman), held in Narrabeen
Bob’s achievements have been an inspiration to other athletes, especially coming 2nd place in the 1987 Foster triathlon, at age 42. He has been described by various people as humble and as a gentleman. Ann Telfer, Bob's wife, has also been involved in triathlon and was one of NSW’s top female triathletes during the 1980s.
